– Technician/Inspector should have long sleeves, pants, latex or heavy gloves, safety glasses and protective mask.

Starting Checks
If the vehicle under inspection can be validated as not having water above the lowest body point of the vehicle then the next items on the list should be:
– Check all fluids before starting vehicle
– To prevent possible damage to the engine and starter, turn the engine by hand to verify the cylinders are not hydro locked before attempting to start it. If the engine turns properly, start the engine and listen for odd noises.
– Check all exterior lamps while the engine is warming up
– Carpet inspection: if the carpet is pulled up and moisture is found, carpet and padding replacement along with any electronics and associated connectors/wiring harness will likely require replacement. (Air bag modules, seat belt pre-tensioners, etc.)
– Inspect dash fuse box connectors. If moisture is found, the fuse boxes and in dash harnesses will need to be replaced
– Road test – check brakes, engine performance/smooth acceleration, and cruise control operation
